My boyfriend and I just celebrated our 1 year anniversary. For a present, I made him a scrapbook of all the pictures we’ve taken over the past year. This took tons of time and not to mention alot of money. In return, he gave me a cheap necklace ($14). My boyfriend doesn’t have much money and he is currently unemployed. The money is not the problem, however. The problem lies in the fact that he could have planned ahead and done a few odd jobs here and there to buy something a little nicer. How do I get him to put more effort into our relationship and effort into preparing for special occasions like these?
you can sit down with him and try to talk about it, but thats probably just the way he is and he probably won’t change any time soon. most men are like this. still there’s no harm in trying to talk to him about how you feel. and i hope he is trying to get a job. if he’s not then he is obviously just lazy when it comes to getting a job and having a relationship so u should dump him.
How can I get my boyfriend to put more thought and effort into our relationship?

That is just how most men are, Really. And be happy he atlleast thought of getting you something, Some men totally forget anniversaries or don’t care enough to buy their girlfriends anything. It’s the thought that counts when it comes to presents, And some men think that something small is usually the best present.
I really don’t see that he did anything wrong, TRy to be a little more grateful.

i’d just be clear with him about everything. i mean he doesnt know what’s going on unless you talk to him about.
if i were you i’d let him know that he should probably put more though into the relationshi because when he doesnt it hurting your feelings.

Honey, men and women ARE different, and not just in the "downstairs" department. Our thinking and even feeling patterns are different.
Your disappointment in his present is just one of many life lessons you will learn if you want to have successful long-term relationships.
Trying to change your partner is bound to backfire – in either no change, or his anger and resentment and being manipulated.
Your choice is either to accept and be grateful for his attention and love, or "re-educate" him (and your future male partners into giving you romantic gifts, more attention etc.)- and risk destroying what you have.
Read books, learn about our glorious differences!

the answer to this problem is to open up the comunication channels. The problem you say lies within his lack of planning yet you said that he spent $14 on you when he’s jobless. Have you considered asking him how long that $14 took to get?
But on the flip side of that are you sure that you comunicated that you would like something that was a touch more expensive properly?
Again going back to what you said about the fact that money doesn’t matter. Well then how do you define "Cheep"?
Now on to what you gave him. The scrap book was a great idea & he should be glad that you were willing to take the time to make him one. You need to understand that sometimes guys are just dence & don’t get hints very well. Sometimes we just need to be told what someone would like unless we know the person varry well.
